With deep love and heavy hearts, we share the passing of Mary Ann “Mitzi” (Ratay) Krevel, 90, of Clymer, PA, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
Born on August 18, 1934, in Heilwood, PA, Mitzi was the cherished daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Belchick) Ratay. She was a lifelong member of Heilwood Presbyterian Church, where she found comfort, community, and faith that guided her throughout her life.
Mitzi was a woman of kindness, love, and dedication. She began her career as a beautician, running her own salon from the family home in Indiana, PA, where laughter and conversation always filled the air. Together with her devoted husband, Charlie, she poured her heart into two family businesses, Ratay’s Burger Hut in Clymer for 25 years and later, The Palace Hotel in Northern Cambria for more than two decades. Both became more than just businesses, they gathered places where friendships were formed, and memories made.
Above all, Mitzi was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her greatest joy was her family. Holidays, Sunday dinners, and everyday moments were made special by her incredible cooking and baking. Her home was always filled with the comforting smells of something delicious in the oven, her warm hugs, and her beautiful, selfless heart. She went above and beyond for those she loved, never missing a chance to lend a hand, offer encouragement, or make someone feel special.
Mitzi also enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—playing bingo with her dear friend Lee, traveling with family and friends, and creating moments that her loved ones will cherish forever.
Mitzi and Charlie shared 62 beautiful years of marriage, building a life full of love, laughter, and togetherness.
She is survived by her three children, who were the pride and joy of her life: Debbie Markel and husband Mick of Philipsburg, Ed Krevel and wife Brenda of Clymer, Chuck Krevel Jr., and wife Melissa of Windber. Her love continued to grow with each new generation. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to: Kristan Kite, Brianne Meek, Colin Krevel, Kyle Krevel, and Caiti Krevel. And her heart overflowed with love for her great-grandchildren: Aiden Meek, Autumn Wyland, Jayce Meek, and Ember Wyland.
She is also survived by her brother, Edward Ratay, and her sister, Joyce Ratay Beer, both of whom held special places in her heart.
In addition to her parents and her beloved Charlie, Mitzi was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles “Tood” Ratay and Robert “Bob” Ratay, and her sister, Betty Lou Yelochen.
