Indiana County’s public school districts are unanimous in their opposition to the state charter and cyber school funding formula, which is draining their budgets at an alarming rate. While Harrisburg lawmakers try to find answers with a more equitable financing method, at least one local district is trying to find out what motivates parents to pull their children out of public school and enroll them in a commercial cyber school.
Marion Center has posted an online survey targeted at those parents. It asks questions such as why they chose a commercial charter school, whether they have tried the district’s own cyber academy, if school-provided internet service factored into their decision, and – perhaps most importantly – what enhancements could be made to the Marion Center Cyber Academy to get them to attend it rather than a commercial cyber school.
