According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Steelers have traded three-time All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for three-time All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Tight end Jonnu Smith was sent to the Steelers. In addition to Ramsey and Smith, the Steelers will also receive a 2027 seventh-round pick. The Dolphins are also getting a 2027 fifth-round pick.
Ramsey, 30, was a former No. 1 pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016. He started all 17 games for Miami in 2024, with 60 tackles, two interceptions, one sack and 11 passes defended.
Ramsey signed a three-year, $72 million extension with the Dolphins in 2024 and was due to earn $24.2 million this season, per Over The Cap. With the trade, Ramsey will receive a $1.5 million raise, bringing his salary to $26.6 in 2025.
Fitzpatrick heads back to Miami, where he began his career after the Dolphins selected him 11th overall in the 2018 draft.
