Pennsylvania lawmakers have advanced a bill to ban PFAS, or forever chemicals, from firefighting foam across the state.
The House unanimously approved the measure, which would ban manufacturing and sales of PFAS-containing foams starting July 1, 2026, and their use beginning January 1, 2027. Supporters say the move will help prevent further contamination near military bases and protect both residents and firefighters. The bill includes exceptions for federal requirements but calls for warning labels on equipment containing PFAS.
The proposal now heads to the state Senate for consideration.
