The Pirates did get some good news with the announcement of Paul Skenes returning to the All-Star game later this month at Atlanta’s Truist Field.
He is the Bucs’ lone selection to the midsummer classic. Last year, he started the All-Star game, and had a walk and held the AL all-stars scoreless in his one inning of work. He becomes the first Pirates pitcher to be named to the All-Star game in his first two seasons in the big leagues.
Because of Skenes becoming an all-star, the Pirates’ pitching rotation is being tweaked. His next game will be Friday at Minnesota so that he will be rested enough to pitch in the All-Star game on July 15th.
