Another phone scam is starting to make the rounds in Indiana County.
Sheriff’s officials said someone reported to them that a man identifying themselves as “Deputy McCully” of the County Sheriff’s Office had called them, saying there was paperwork left for them and also left a phone number for them to call back. The calls are a scam as sheriff’s deputies will attempt to make personal service on all civil paperwork.
You are advised to not fall for the scams or give anyone that you can’t identify your personal information. If you feel it’s a scam, say you want to verify their identity and you will call them back. Then call the sheriff’s office on the office number instead of the number the scammer may provide.
