The Pirates organization has announced a permanent solution to the problem that started with the removal and destruction of the Bucco Bricks purchased by Pirates fans.
Team president Travis Williams said sixty bronze plaques will be installed on the outside of the stadium along General Robinson Street and Mazeroski Way, which will include over 10,000 messages that were purchased through the program. The bricks that had been a part of the sidewalk since the Park’s opening were removed and discarded before opening day, with the team saying that they had deteriorated and posed safety concerns, but their disposal upset many fans.
The team has also offered to ship replacement bricks to anyone who took part in the original program, and so far 3000 bricks have been sent out.
