Ceremonies were held earlier today to celebrate the reopening of the Heshbon Bridge.
The bridge was closed since May by PennDOT and county officials after an inspection of the structure revealed damage to one of the bridge’s main trusses, probably due to a vehicle strike.
The bridge that carries Route 259 over Blacklick Creek was completely closed to traffic during that time, and PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll acknowledged that the traffic change was hard on local residents.
The bridge had one lane closed this morning for the final work to wrap up.
