The 30th annual PIAA Officials Convention is today and tomorrow in Harrisburg, with educational sessions, reviews of new rules for high school sports, and topics such as communications with coaches, being a healthy official, and the relationship between officials and athletic directors.
A number of officials will be recognized for thirty years on the job, including two from Indiana County: Dan Fletcher and Colin McGinnis.
There are more than 15,000 registered officials in the state, but their numbers are shrinking, and the PIAA is hoping to recruit more.
