Larry Lakatosh, 68, of Indiana, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on August 1, 2025. He was born on June 22, 1957, in McKeesport, PA, to the late John and Ruth Lakatosh.
He is survived by his daughter, Katie Woodrow, and her husband Adam; his cherished grandchildren, Natalie and Owen Woodrow; and his sister, Linda Lakatosh.
Affectionately known as “Pops,” Larry’s greatest joy in life was spending time with Natty and Owen, who brought him endless happiness (and chaos). To know Larry was to know that he was a diehard Penn State fan who had a closet full of blue and white to prove it. In his final years, his days were spent enjoying his backyard full of birds and squirrels.
Known for his quick wit, infectious laugh, and kind heart, Larry will be forever remembered for the warmth he brought into every room—and for his unforgettable dimples.
Larry dedicated his professional life to serving Indiana County as a probation officer. Throughout his career, he walked alongside people during some of their most difficult times, meeting them exactly where they were—with compassion, empathy, and deep integrity. He touched countless lives with his unwavering belief in redemption, fairness, and human dignity.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home & Crematory, 965 Philadelphia Street, Indiana. Larry’s funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Indiana.
