Homer City Borough Council met Tuesday night, with public safety concerns topping the agenda.
Council voted to send a formal letter to the Pennsylvania State Police, requesting increased patrols in the borough. The move comes after the borough eliminated its full-time police positions earlier this year, citing budget constraints.
Council member Matt Black says the result has been a reduced police presence in the community, and the request aims to fill that gap. A copy of the letter has also been forwarded to Indiana County 911.
In other business, council discussed two pending agreements — one with Waste Management for trash services and another with Citizens’ Ambulance Service. Both items were tabled for further review after council members raised multiple concerns about the proposed contracts.
The issues are expected to be revisited at the next council meeting.
