Pennsylvania’s Act 18 of 2025 is set to take effect later this year, bringing a series of updates to state law. The legislation covers a range of provisions, including ensuring emergency medical services providers are fully integrated into Pennsylvania’s overdose surveillance systems, enabling faster, more accurate data sharing across agencies. By improving real-time coordination, Act 18 strengthens the ability to respond to overdoses and save lives.
Governor Josh Shapiro signed the measure into law after it passed the General Assembly with bipartisan support. The House and Senate both unanimously approved the act.
The law is scheduled to go into effect December 30th, giving state agencies and affected groups time to prepare for the changes.
