State police are continuing to look for a man who planted a pipe bomb on a lawnmower in Salem Township, Westmoreland County.
Authorities say that 54-year-old James Sever is wanted on charges of attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and other crimes for an incident on July 20th. Police accused him of planting the bomb on his landlord’s lawnmower that went off after he started the riding lawnmower and moved the handles forward. The victim was able to jump off the mower, but the machine was damaged, as was a nearby RV.
Sever had been evicted by the landlord on June 3rd and the two had a confrontation eight days after that.
He is known to frequent the wooded areas of Derry, Blairsville and New Alexandria. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call 911 or the State Police Kiski Barracks at 724-697-5780.
