Thursday night, the Homer-Center School Board approved moving forward with the next phase of the HVAC project.
This portion will focus on the kindergarten classrooms at the elementary school. This comes after the first two phases dealt with boilers in the elementary building and chillers in both buildings. Phase three will deal with the end units at both buildings, as those units are both at the end of their useful life. Superintendent Ralph Cecere said that the district will seek bids for this portion, which will focus on the kindergarten wing.
The district will contact McClure Company of Wexford to have them come in and look at possible solutions.
In other business, the board tabled a spring training trip for the Varsity Softball Team to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Board member Vicki Smith said that the softball team had been in a three-year rotation with the baseball team and the marching band on similar trips, but that changed after the pandemic. She said that the softball team has been going every other year, and she would like to see it return to the previous rotation.
