Moving on to baseball, the Pirates shut out the Colorado Rockies last night 9-0. Joe Block reports.
The Pirates return to action tonight with Mike Burrows starting for the Bucs. He is 1-4 with a 4.46 ERA. Kyle Freeland will throw for the Rockies. He is 3-12 with a 5.16 ERA. You can hear the game on WCCS tonight at 6:15. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:40.
Before the game, former Pirates Manager and current Rockies bench coach Clint Hurdle reflected on his time in the Burgh. He helped the team to three consecutive wild-card appearances in the 2010’s, and is 4th all-time in wins by a Pirates manager. During that run, Hurdle was the NL Manager of the Year in 2013. He said in comments to the media that he hopes current Manager Don Kelly can lead a turnaround like he did or better.
