While the Steelers are getting ready for their first regular season game on September 7th, they will be without one of their top draft picks for at least a month. Yesterday, the team announced that rookie defensive lineman Derrick Harmon will be out at least a month with an MCL sprain that he suffered Thursday night in the Steelers preseason win over Carolina. Harmon landed awkwardly on his right side and was twisted up when he was hurt. He could be one of two players the Steelers could place on IR on the final roster cutdown day, which is Tuesday, but he would have to miss at least four games.
The cuts have started for the Steelers, as they trimmed 11 players off their roster. No big names were on the cut list, with most of them having just a few games experience in the NFL. Another 27 cuts are needed to bring the roster down to the league mandated 53 players.
