While the weather has been seasonally pleasant, it has not done any favors for groundwater levels in Indiana County.
The National Integrated Drought Information System shows that most of Indiana County is in the abnormally dry category, while portions of Banks and Montgomery Townships, and areas of Jefferson and Clearfield County are in moderate drought status. Accuweather meteorologist Jason Caterina said it has been good for outdoor activities and sleeping thanks to large high pressure areas have come through over the last few weeks, but he does not see any rain in the near future that would be significant enough to bring relief.
Caterina added that while a lot of rain is needed, a steady light rain would be better than heavier rainfall.
