Wednesday night, Penns Manor’s Superintendent informed the school board that they will be taking some measures in case the state budget impasse continues.
Superintendent Daren Johnston said during the meeting that Business Manager Jennifer Sleppy has submitted an application to the state Department of Education for an Act 85 Debt Intercept payment. She said it will take care of their bond debt.
She also said that the money would be taken out of the district’s subsidy once the state spending plan is approved. Johnston said they have enough money in reserves to keep them in operation until the end of November. After that, they will consider applying for a tax anticipation note.
The board was also informed that the district received a $1000 donation from the United Way of Indiana County to go towards the district’s early literacy program through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
