CROSS COUNTRY
In a tri-meet, the United girls beat Marion Center by a single place point, 27-28, with Homer-Center running only one girl in the field. Marion Center’s Brooke Slade was first overall, followed by United’s Payton Kolarik and Olivia Henning, with the Stingers’ Macie Miller fourth and Nora Pollock fifth.
For the boys, Marion Center beat United 23-33, with both teams taking down Homer-Center. Top runner was United’s Matthew Beaver, whose 17.44.8 beat Marion Center’s Seth Boring by nine-tenths of a second. The Stingers’ Adam Ryer and Carson Wells were next, with the Lions’ Luke Shepler in fifth.
The junior high/middle school girls race went to Marion Center by two places, paced by Anna Pollock and Haddie Brown, who finished 1-2. Marion Center also took the boys race, with the Stingers’ Silas Pollock finishing first and United’s Jackson Beaver second.
BOYS GOLF
Indiana improved to 8-2 in their section with a thirteen-stroke win over Penn Trafford at the Indiana Country Club. Ryan Bell and Drew Brocious were medalists, both firing even par 36, with Chace Force just a stroke back, Austin Schawl shooting 40, and Beau Raykes 41.
GIRLS GOLF
River Valley’s girls lost their first two matches of the season, falling to Hollidaysburg by 42 strokes and to Altoona by six at Park Hills Country Club in Altoona. Hollidaysburg’s Crosby Denis was medalist with a 33. Alessia Lamantia was River Valley’s top scorer with a 47.
GIRLS SOCCER
Indiana got its first win of the season, downing West Mifflin 4-2 yesterday. Sophie Scardina scored two goals and Maddy Williams and Sarah Genchur added scores in the Section win.
