GOLF
At the District 6 golf tournament yesterday in Ebensburg, West Shamokin’s Alex Talmadge took a big first step toward defended his District 6 championship, firing an even par 71 to take a one-stroke lead over Richland’s Wesley Dunlap. River Valley’s Jake Pynos is tied for third at four over and teammate Jeremy Reed is tied for seventh at seven over. Others making the cut include River Valley’s Brady Doak at eleven over, tied for 19th. Homer-Center’s Brayden Rado shot 12 over and is tied for 22nd.
Richland, Westmont Hilltop, Bishop Giulfoyle, and St Josephs made the cut for the Finals. River Valley finished 5th, West Shamokin 6th, and Homer-Center 11th.
The final round will be on Tuesday at Sinking Valley golf Club in Altoona.
GIRLS TENNIS
In the WPIAL AA Section 3 doubles tournament, Indiana’s team of Sophiana Sidikou and Lila Dubefsky beat the team from Knoch, 10-1 in the first round, then beat a team from The Ellis School, 10-6 in the quarterfinals. The team of Chloe Yanoschick and Lily Mill beat the team from Highlands, 10-7 but lost in the quarters, 10-6 to a team from Hampton.
Sidikou and Dubefsky will play the top-seeded team from North Catholic in the semis.
VOLLEYBALL
Cambria Heights knocked off Penns Manor in four sets, taking the first, third, and fourth games while dropping the second. (25-18, 17-25, 25-12, 25-18)
For the Highlanders, Regan Conrad had 15 kills and 19 digs. Carly Sowers had 13 kills and eleven service points. Elena Eckenrode had eleven service points and 21 digs. Julia Karheim had four blocks and Jordan Westrick had 22 assists while Claire Nihart had 9. For Penns Manor, Elaine Altemus had 9 service points and 33 digs. Clara Henry had 7 service points and 21 assists. Josie Matko had 11 kills and Jillian Kuzemchak had 4 digs.
Cambria Heights won the JV match, 2-1.
Northern Cambria dropped a three-setter to Central Cambria in a non-conference match at CC. Scores were 25-11, 25-14, and 25-12.
For the Lady Colts, Ciara McCracken: 1 ace, 3 kills, 5 assists, and 8 digs Lainey Vasil: 1 ace, 2 kills, and 5 digs Emilee Depetro: 2 kills, 2 assists, and 6 digs Sophie Fry: 10 digs Kayla Formeck: 2 aces.
Central Cambria also won the JV match, 2-0, and the 7th grade match, 2-1. Northern Cambria won the 8th grade match, 2-0.

CROSS COUNTRY
The Marion Center girls and boys swept a double dual meet over Purchase Line and Penns Manor. The Stingers’ Brooke Slade won the girls race with a time of 21:19, and Seth Boring won the boys race at 18:18. The girls end the regular season at 7-1 while the boys are undefeated at 8-0.
Purchase Line’s girls and boys both topped Penns Manor.
GIRLS SOCCER
Indiana lost to Greensburg Salem, 3-0.
