The 8th Street Initiative Charette wrapped up yesterday with an open house in the corridor connecting IUP to the Downtown Indiana district.
This was part of the tactical urbanism portion of the two days of workshops, meant to show what the corridor might look like using many of the suggestions that were given by the public, according to Eden Zenisek with Indiana Borough.
Some of those changes could include expanded sidewalk areas, planters and trees, improved lighting and finding a balance between parking and road areas.
She added that the next phase of the project will include receiving an action plan from consultant team Michael Baker Engineering. That plan will be reviewed by Indiana Borough Council and the partners in this project before seeking grant dollars for the project.
