Fell fell to 2-2, 0-1 in the ACC when the Panthers let a 17-0 lead leak away and lost to Louisville, 34-27. The Cardinal’s Miller Moss threw for 339 yards and three touchdowns, two of them in the fourth quarter.
Louisville grabbed the momentum in the first half when Pitt’s Kenny Johnson signaled for a fair catch but was run into by Louisville’s Antonio Meeks. The Cardinals fell on the ball inside the Panthers’ five-yard-line and later scored. The punt return was originally ruled a fair catch interference against the Cardinals. but the ACC reversed the call after a review, saying Meeks was blocked into Johnson.
Moss hit Jaleel Skinner for a 12-yard touchdown hookup with 10:49 left in the fourth quarter, and after T.J. Quinn intercepted Pitt quarterback Eli Holstein to give Louisville the ball again at the Pitt 30, Moss found Nate Kurisky in the end zone for an 8-yard game-winning score.
Holstein was 14-26 for 226 yards and two touchdowns, but was intercepted twice and was benched in favor of Cole Gonzalez after the second pick.
Pitt will host Boston College this Saturday.
