Indiana County’s Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady over the month of August.
The rate held steady at 4.7% for the month after it went up a tenth of a percentage point in the month of July. Last year at this time, the unemployment rate was 4.3% in the county. For August, the statewide unemployment rate was 4.0%, while the national rate is 4.3%.
Indiana County has the highest rate in the region. Westmoreland County has the lowest at 4.0%, while Jefferson county’s rate is 4.2%. Clearfield County is next highest at 4.3%, followed by Armstrong County is at 4.5 and Cambria County at 4.6. The lowest unemployment rate in the state is Montour County at 2.8, with Potter County ranking the highest at 5.3.
