The Steelers have begun their bye week, but even an extra seven days of rest won’t be enough for two key starters to get ready for the next game, October 12th against the Browns.
Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that both cornerback Jalen Ramsey and receiver Calvin Austin III are both “expected to miss several games.” Ramsey has a hamstring injury and Austin a shoulder injury.
General manager Omar Khan has been looking for help at wide receiver since the trade of George Pickens to Dallas in May. With the bye, he may be able to acquire someone via trade and work him into the Steelers’ system before the Cleveland game.
The Steelers got some help in the AFC North thanks to the Denver Broncos, who crushed the lifeless Cincinnati Bengals 28-3. The Steelers lead the division at 3-1, followed by the Bengals at 2-2, with the Ravens and Browns both at 1-3. However, the Steelers have not yet played an AFC North game this season.
The Dolphins beat the Jets in a second MNF game, 27-21.
