State police have charged a Cambria County teenager with murdering two people earlier this week.
Court documents show 14-year-old Judah Courtney of Carroltown faces two counts each of criminal homicide, four counts of aggravated assault, three counts of possession of an instrument of crime and a single count of tampering or fabricating evidence in connection with the deaths of 32-year-old Olivia Courtney and 38-year-old Ashley Cook. The two were found in a home in the 100 block of Flick Avenue around 6:00 Monday night. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple stab wounds. State police confirmed that Olivia was Judah’s mother, and the two victims lived in the same home as Judah.
In the criminal complaint, Troopers said that a neighbor was mowing his lawn when Courtney approached him. The neighbor’s wife said that while she took him on a walk, he said “I can’t believe all this happened,” followed by, “I did it.” Courtney’s girlfriend told police that she received a message on snapchat saying that he killed his parents, which was followed up by “jk” which stands for just kidding. Courtney would later admit to killing the two to police and provided details on where the knives were and associated bloody clothing that he tried to dispose of.
Courtney is being charged as an adult. Bail was denied and he is currently in Cambria County Jail awaiting a preliminary hearing on October 16th.
