At last week’s meeting of Indiana County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, executive director Byron Stauffer Jr. of the Indiana County Development Corporation and the Office of Planning & Development reported, “There are more growth-oriented projects occurring throughout the county right now than we have seen in some time. We want to continue to work with all of the businesses in a variety of industries to support this growth and provide them with the resources that they may need.”
The county and the Chamber are both working to take advantage of the expanding opportunities. Stauffer outlined an upcoming housing summit to be held next month at the Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort and Conference Center. He said a number of manufacturing businesses are anticipating growth and expansion, including building acquisitions, renovations, and new equipment purchases.
Chamber President Mark Hilliard updated the board on a planned webinar for county businesses to help them take advantage of the new economic climate, and Jimmy Stewart Airport Manager Rodger Ewing noted an increase flying in to the county, “both residential and corporate.”
Stauffer also told the board that the new welcome center in downtown Indiana should be ready by the late fall, which Downtown Indiana’s Sam Kenly also stated Friday on Indiana In the Morning on WCCS.
