Indiana Borough Police say a 23-year-old man is facing arson and reckless endangerment charges after a fire Thursday afternoon in Indiana.
Police say Moises Eliseo Hernandez Us of Indiana has been charged after allegedly setting a fire inside his apartment near the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Maple Street around 2 o’clock Thursday. Investigators say Hernandez Us told police he had tried to set himself on fire and admitted to setting at least one object inside the apartment ablaze. He was hurt in the incident and taken for medical treatment.
No one else was injured, but several tenants were displaced by the fire. Police say Hernandez Us is currently being held for evaluation, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and the Indiana County District Attorney’s Office assisted with the investigation.
Officials also thanked IUP and The Alice Paul House for helping support those affected by the blaze.
