Monday night, the Indiana School Board discussed the future of Horace Mann Elementary.
Superintendent Rob Heinrich gave a recap from the start of Horace Mann’s eventual decommissioning to today, with the district last month approving a letter of interest from potential buyer Pivotal GP Holdings. He also informed the board that there are several steps to selling the building, and that included making sure that the building is sold at fair market value.
Pivotal GP wants to transform the building into affordable housing. Heinrich added that a company representative will be in attendance at the next Buildings, Grounds and Transportation Committee meeting on October 20th to answer questions of the committee and the public.
In other business, the board accepted grants of $2500 and $2000 to go towards the new drone program at the Senior High and to support science research projects for 49 senior high students. The board also approved a donation of up to $16,767 in Martin’s Round-Up donations to ICCAP to support the Power Pack Program for Indiana School District Students.
