It’s state championship week for PIAA golf, starting today at Penn State with the two-day individual tournaments. The AA boys will play the White Course, with District 6 champion Jake Pynos of River Valley in the field, along with district runner-up Alex Talmadge of West Shamokin and Homer-Center’s Brayden Rado.
Pynos is in the second foursome and will tee off at 10:10. Talmadge is in the fifth grouping and tees off at 10:40. Raydo will tee off on the back nine, also at 10:40.
The River Valley girls found out over the weekend that they have qualified for the AA team championship as an at-large invitee. The Panthers’ Madigan and Maren Dunlap, Alessia LaMantia, Ashley Pynos, and Sara Bollinger’s performances at the District 6 championship event earned them the spot. The Dunlap twins, LaMantia, and Pynos will play at Penn State on Wednesday.
