Little progress was reported from the PA Senate on the state budget impasse as they returned to session yesterday.
The commonwealth enters its fourth month without a budget in place, and many school districts in the state are feeling the financial crunch because of the lack of state funding coming in. Some districts in Indiana are considering taking out tax anticipation notes to get money needed to continue operations.
Senate Republicans say House Democrats are to blame for not acting on a previous budget proposal that would have sent money at last year’s levels out while work continued. House Democrats accuse Senate Republicans on not moving forward on a compromise budget bill that was presented earlier this month, which Senate Majority Leadership called steps backward.
The Senate continues session today, while the house meets again next Monday.
