At this morning’s meeting, the Indiana County Commissioners approved the acquisition of land and the architectural services contract for ICCAP’s Pathways Homeless Shelter.
The price of the parcel off Shelly Drive in White Township was $95,000 and 2024 Community Development Block Grant Funds will be used for that purchase. The 1.91-acre vacant lot will be the home of a new emergency homeless facility including supportive service offices. Luann Zak from the Office of Planning and Development said that the new location is closer to educational opportunities and will better serve homeless people than their prior facility in Black Lick.
The contract with Young and Associates will be for architectural services at a cost not to exceed $250,000 except for specifically identified exclusions. When built, the shelter will be about 12,000 square feet and consist of 20 non-congregate units.
Also during the meeting, the commissioners approved the reestablishment of the Watershed Planning Advisory Committee as part of Phase II for the Stormwater Management Plan, and approved a purchase order of 30 interior doors for the Challenger Learning Center.
