A Johnstown man was ordered to serve time in state prison for a guilty plea to charges of dealing drugs.
Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi announced that 40-year-old John Finnegan was ordered to serve four to ten years in state prison for his guilty plea to a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. A second possession charge along with possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal use of a communications facility were not prosecuted. In March of this year, agents with the county’s Drug Task Force, Indiana Borough Police, State Attorney General’s officials and the county sheriff’s office conducted a controlled purchase of drugs from Finnegan, resulting in a pickup of 169.2 grams of methamphetamine.
Finnegan also has a record in Westmoreland and Cambria Counties for drug-related crimes and in one case in Johnstown, he was accused of child endangerment. In a statement, District Attorney Robert Manzi complimented the cooperative effort of all the agencies involved. He added that “due to the efforts of our officers, a drug dealer with a lengthy criminal history is off our streets and in state prison.”
