Eleanor Kimmell Rose, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025.
She was the beloved wife of Ronald Rose for what would have been 66 years on Oct. 31 of this year. She was born in Sagamore on Aug. 19, 1934, to John and Hazel Kimmell. She was the eighth of 10 children. Her joy in the Lord was always a bright light seen by the way she loved her family, friends and strangers.
She started her adventurous travel career as an airline stewardess with American Airlines, jetting in and out of cities across the world and later working as a travel agent at Indiana Travel Service in 1959 that later became Aztec Travel Service in Indiana. She later bought the business from the former owners who retired and continued her career serving others with intention, detail and care. She specialized in finding last-minute plane seats that people needed for family emergencies when all the airlines said the planes were full. She had a way of making it happen and helping many people get where they needed last minute and on time.
When she wasn’t in her office, she dedicated her life to enjoying her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved making fun activities and memories for them when they were younger, teaching them how to make delicious breads and soups and sledding down hills in the snow together. She later enjoyed sharing her love of songs, poems and ice cream with her great-grandkids. She was a lifelong member of Graystone Presbyterian Church where she was married and worshiped since 1959.
She will be greatly missed, but we rest in the hope of seeing her again. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel Kimmell; her son, Gary Rose; her siblings, Ruth Aikins, Verda Thomas, Fay Woods, John, Paul, Donald “Bing,” Ralph, infant baby girl Kimmell, Floyd and Joe Kimmell.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Rose, of Indiana; daughter in-law Kathy Rose, of Indiana; grandchildren Carl (Jenny) Rose, Butler; Emily (Steve) Miller, Indiana; great-grandchildren Kenley Rose and Sophia and Elizabeth Miller; sisters-in-law Carol Dawson and Joanne Kimmell; and various nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday in Graystone Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 640 Church St., Indiana, with the Rev. Greg Golden officiating. Burial will be in Atwood Cemetery, Elderton.
