The River Valley School Board met last night and was updated on their financial situation amid the ongoing state budget impasse.
District officials say they are continuing to operate off their tax anticipation note and have spent $3 million of that so far, with just over $1 million left. Board President Rick Harper said that those funds combined with the tax revenue they have received so far will allow them to continue to operate until January or February, but after that, they may have to make some tough decisions.
In other business, the board hired Nicholas White as the new chief of security at a yearly salary of $72,000. White will begin as soon as his paperwork is complete. The board also approved the resignation of former chief of security Jason Dieter as of October 10th and part time security officer Dale Burkett as of October 23rd.
