Four sentencing hearings are scheduled today for Indiana County’s Court of Common Pleas, including one for a man accused of stealing packages off front porches.
Court documents show 35-year-old John Davis Manning pleaded guilty to a charge of organized retail theft earlier this month in connection with a string of incidents from February 12th to the 27th. State police said Manning stole packages off porches in Indiana, Westmoreland, Armstrong and Allegheny Counties, sometimes posing as a Doordash driver to do so. A large amount of stolen merchandise was found when police searched his house in March. As part of his plea deal, charges of receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking, possession of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia and two counts of retail theft were not prosecuted. An additional charge of theft of mail was withdrawn.
Also due for sentencing today is 42-year-old Bonnie Redmond, who pleaded guilty in August to two counts each of simple assault, assaulting a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest for an incident on May 15th of 2024.
And Damae Clemons will be in court for sentencing in two cases. For a case that goes back to September 21st of last year he pleaded guilty to strangulation, simple assault and criminal mischief. The second case concerns an incident on November 28th. In that case he pleaded guilty to DUI.
All the sentencing hearings will be held before Judge Michael Clark.
