In 1967 Los Angeles-based psychedelic rock band Strawberry Alarm Clock were at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Incense And Peppermints’.
In 1969 The Rolling Stones kicked off a four night stand at New York’s Madison Square Garden, which were recorded for the album “Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out.
In 1975 The Who celebrated the start of their latest tour with a party afterwards. It is there that Keith Moon, The Who’s drummer, was arrested for disorderly conduct.
In 1995 New releases included Tom Petty’s album “Playback.”
In 2001 New releases included Creed’s album “Weathered,” the five-disc Kiss collection “Kiss: The Box Set,” and Mick Jagger’s solo project “Goddess in the Doorway.”
In 2003 Legendary producer Phil Spector was formally charged with murder in connection with the death of actress Lana Clarkson. He pled not guilty during his arraignment, and was allowed to remain free on the one-million-dollars bail he’d posted after his initial arrest ten months earlier.
Michael Jackson surrendered to California authorities regarding an arrest warrant on child molestation charges. He was photographed and fingerprinted, and required to turn in his passport. He was released from custody after posting three-million-dollar bond.
In 2004 A fight in 2002 in a German hotel landed Liam Gallager with a 40-thousand-pound fine, served in 2004.
In 2007 Former Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer Artemus Pyle was released from a Florida jail on ten-thousand-dollars bail. He had spent the night at the facility because state records indicated he hadn’t adequately registered as a sex offender. He denied the allegations, claiming the police, quote, “got it wrong.” Pyle’s sex offender status stemmed from a guilty plea in 1993 to charges relating to sexual misconduct with a minor.
New releases included Nirvana’s DVD “Unplugged In New York” and Wolfmother’s DVD “Please Experience Wolfmother Live.”
In 2013 Elvis Presley’s “Merry Christmas…Love Elvis” debuted at number 147 on the Billboard 200 to become his record-extending 129th album to appear on the chart. Frank Sinatra has the second-most Billboard 200 chart appearances, with 82.

In 2016 Crag Gill, a drummer with the Inspiral Carpets, died at 44. He was one of the founding members of the group who’s hits include, ‘Joe’, ‘This Is How It Feels’, ‘She Comes In The Fall’, ‘Dragging Me Down’ and ‘Saturn 5’.
In 2022 Elton John played his final show on the North American leg of his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road:The Final Tour” in Los Angeles.
