It only seemed like an old-fashioned Big East game because the teams were Pitt and Villanova. In actuality, the old Panthers would have been more competitive than the current group. Villanova went on runs of 12-0 in the first half and 10-0 in the closing minutes of the game on the way to a 79-61 victory Saturday in Philadelphia on Saturday.
Villanova’s Bryce Lindsay was 8-for-8 shooting and scored 24 points, and teammate Duke Brennan added 24 more. Pitt’s Barry Dunning Jr. scored 17, Nojus Indrusaitis had 14 and Cam Corhen and Demarco Minor both had 10.
Pitt has lost three games in a row and is under .500, at 5-6.
