A Smicksburg man charged with killing someone in a vehicle crash pleaded guilty a few days before jury selection was to start today.
Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi announced that 36-year-old Joshua Brink entered an open guilty plea on Friday to the lead charge of Homicide by Vehicle while Driving Under the Influence. The charge was connected with the death of 52-year-old Douglas Dalessio on Barnard Road in West Mahoning Township on August 27th of 2021. Police at the time said that Brink veered off the road and overcorrected to get back on the road when he hit Dalessio with his SUV. Dalessio mowing grass on a lawn tractor. Brink fled the scene after the crash but was picked up later by police.
Brink’s sentencing hearing is set for March 16th. Manzi said that he faces up to seven years in prison.
