The Penguins are red-hot, knocking off New Jersey last night for their sixth straight win. Paul Steigerwald has the story.
Goaltender Stuart Skinner stopped a number of great scoring chances in the first period. Coach Dan Muse says Skinner carried his team.
Evgeni Malkin returned to the lineup after missing fifteen games with a shoulder injury. Muse said Geno got stronger as the game went on.
Malkin started playing the left wing with Ben Kindel centering the second line. He switched to the right wing later in the game. He says it took a while to get comfortable not playing center.
The Penguins sent promising rookie winger Ville Koivunen to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to open up a roster spot for Malkin’s return from injured reserve.
Before the game, the Penguins honored former State Senator Jack McGregor, who died at age 91 on Tuesday. McGregor and the late Peter Block founded the franchise in 1967.
