The Penguins are flying high as they return from their western road swing after a win over Vancouver. Paul Steigerwald reports on a western sweep for the Pens.
The Pens are in second place in the Metro Division, six points behind first-place Carolina and four points ahead of the third-place New York Islanders.
Coach Dan Muse says the opportunity is there for the Pens to make a playoff push.
Muse says the trip was great for Ben Kindel, and for the Penguins.
Kris Letang returned to the ice after missing two games with an undisclosed upper body injury. He, Sidney Crosby, and Evgeni Malkin skated in their 1,000th game together.
After the four-game western trip, the Pens play their next three games at home, Thursday against the Blackhawks, Saturday against the Rangers, (where they will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their 2016 Stanley Cup championship with former coach Mike Sullivan, who’s now with the Rangers), and next Monday against the Ottawa Senators.
