Gas prices may be on the way up very soon for our area.
Triple A reports that while Spring is still a few weeks away, gas producers are already making a shift in production to summer-blend fuel which contain pricier additives meant to help reduce evaporation during the warmer months. They also anticipate that demand will increase due to Spring Break kicking off and more drivers taking road trips now that they don’t have winter weather to deal with.
The national average gas price as of this morning is $3.10 a gallon, but Pennsylvania’s average is ten cents higher at $3.20. The statewide average jumped up seven cents over the week. Indiana County’s average this morning is $3.30. In our area, the lowest average is Jefferson County at $3.18, while Cambria County’s average is the highest at $3.36.
In Homer City, gas prices still have a wide range between three stations on a stretch of Route 119. Sheetz continues to have the most expensive at $3.39. Accent Fuels reports a $3.29 per gallon price this morning while Kwik Fill’s is the lowest at $3.19.
Gas prices in Indiana and Blairsville are at $3.39 a gallon this morning.
