Multiple sources are now reporting that Andrew McCutchen has signed a one-year deal to play ball for the Texas Rangers.
The all-star outfielder was into the third year of his second stint with the Pirates organization. McCutchen, according to a report from the Associated Press, would make $1.5 million this season if he is added to the 40-man roster. The Pirates had kept the door open for his return even as Spring Training got underway.
McCutchen played in 135 games last season, hitting 13 homers and tallying 57 RBI’s with a batting average of .256.
