It was a bad night on the ice for the Penguins against the surging Buffalo Sabres. Paul Steigerwald recaps the Pens’ loss.
The Sabres’ go-ahead goal by Josh Norris in the second was helped by what the Penguins felt was a goaltender’s interference by Buffalo’s Josh Doan. But coach Dan Muse’s challenge was rejected.
The Penguins are 0-for-7 this season on challenges for goaltender’s interference.
Muse says the Penguins can’t get caught up in the emotion of the moment, even if they feel they’ve been wronged.
Sidney Crosby was on the ice again yesterday before the team’s morning skate. The Penguins have not upgraded his status and he is expected back in two or more weeks.
It’s NHL trade deadline day. Teams have until 3 PM to make a deal and the Penguins are expected to be active, especially if Malkin gets a multi-game suspension. Some of the names attached to the Penguins from various sources include Seattle Kraken center Shane Wright, Rangers’ forward Vinnie Trochek (a Pittsburgh native), and former Penguins center Teddy Blueger, who is currently with Vancouver.
