The IUP women were undaunted by the pressure last night as a tight game came down to the wire. Marin Miller’s 3-point shot with 5 seconds to go gave IUP a 65-64 win over Winston-Salem State, to win the Atlantic Regional and advance to the Elite Eight at Duquesne University.
The Elite Eight gets underway a week from today at Duquesne and the seedings have not yet been announced. The South bracket winner is Alabama-Huntsville; Carson-Newman won the Southeast; Colorado-Mesa the South Central; Cal Poly Pomona the West; Minnesota-Duluth the Central; Holy Family the East; and Grand Valley State the Midwest
The IUP men will take their shot at winning the Atlantic Regional tonight against Gannon, on Gannon’s home court. The two teams have played each other three times this season, with Gannon winning all three. In fact, Gannon has won the last nine times they have played IUP.
IUP made it to the final with a first-round win over Fairmont State and an overtime victory over Virginia Union in Round Two. Gannon knocked out Charleston in the first round and avenged their PSAC championship game loss to Cal in Round Two.
The pregame airs tonight at 6:30 on 92.5 FM U92. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 o’clock.
