BASEBALL
Already leading 12-3, Conemaugh Township scored ten in the sixth to put away Penns Manor, 22-3. DJ Bambino had three hits and five RBIs, and Colin Dinyar, Bryce Conn, Landon Oakes, Reed Conn, and Gabe Valentine all had two hits for the Indians. For the Comets, Max Sunseri had a double and drove in two runs.
After falling behind 3-0 in the first, Portage scored two in the sixth inning, then held off Cambria Heights in the seventh for a 6-5 win. Freshman Lucas Shuniak had two hits and drove in three runs for the Mustangs. Nolan Clawson and Noah Wirick each had two hits for the Highlanders.
Homer-Center won by forfeit over Ferndale.
Richland had 14 hits in a 22-1 three-inning win over River Valley.
SOFTBALL
Trailing 2-1 after five, Northern Cambria scored 3 in the sixth and 7 in the seventh for an 11-4 win over United. Freshman Izzy McCabe’s home run highlighted the big seventh inning. Lainey Vasil, Makayla Formeck, and Quinn Bernecky all had two hits for the Lady Colts. Ella Worthington had four hits and Peyton Thomas had two for the Lions.
A day after beating Cambria Heights, 10-8, Portage lost to the Highlanders by the same score. A five-run sixth gave Heights a 9-8 lead and they added one more in the seventh for the win. Hallie Hayes had three hits for Heights, with a triple, a homer, and four runs driven in. Autumn Groer also had three hits and Margaret Elias had two. For Portage, Reese Pinizotta walked four times, and five players drove in runs.
