Twenty-four hours after he was promoted to the main roster, Konnor Griffin was formally introduced to the media as a member of the Pirates main roster. The 19-year-old is expected to take over at shortstop after slugging four homers in Spring Training. However, his average was well below two-hundred and he spent five games with Triple-A Indianapolis this season where he hit .438 in just over 20 plate appearances.
Griffin said that one key for him is to remember to have fun and to stay consistent.
He also acknowledged the Pirates fan base, saying he knows they have been waiting a long time for a good team to come around.
The Pirates play the Orioles this afternoon starting at 3:45 on WCCS.
