A car fire spread to a home in White Township Monday afternoon causing significant damage to the building.

Indiana Fire Association members were sent out at 2:46 PM to the 500 Block of Carter Avenue. Homer City, Coral-Graceton and Creekside fire departments, the EMA/Hazzmat Team and Citizen’s Ambulance were dispatched to assist 6 minutes later. IFA Chief Lee Thompson said that the fire started with a car and spread to the house.
The family and two dogs were able to get out unscathed, but two cats perished in the fire. The American Red Cross was called in to help the family.
Thompson said that the house took on moderate to severe damage.
