The school year is winding down for students across Indiana County, with commencement ceremonies and summer vacation on the schedule starting this week. Graduation is scheduled on the same day as the final day of classes in all of the districts this year.
Penns Manor’s last day of classes will be on Thursday. The school year ends for Homer-Center, Marion Center, River Valley and United on Friday. Purchase Line’s last day is June 2nd. Indiana Area will be the final county school district to end its academic year, on June 5th.
School board meetings this week include Homer-Center and River Valley, on Tuesday. Homer-Center will hold a meeting of its Buildings & Grounds Committee prior to the full board meeting and it will also hold a meeting of its Academic Committee, on Wednesday.
Homer-Center’s school board agenda includes a preliminary budget set at $21.7 million, with a 1.75 percent real estate tax increase. There is also a large list of personnel items on the agenda, including the resignation of girls basketball coach Nick Moore.
