As Indiana Borough Police were investigating the officer-involved shooting on North Cherry Lane, police were sent to an apartment in the 500 block of Philadelphia Street in Indiana Borough for another incident where a shot was fired.
The incident was reported at 8:43 PM and classified as a medical emergency. Police discovered that a 39-year-old man accidently shot himself in the lower body inside his apartment. State troopers, Blairsville Police and Citizen’s Ambulance provided immediate assistance and the victim was taken to IRMC for treatment. The injury is not life-threatening.
Indiana Borough Police Chief Justin Schawl said this is in no way connected with the earlier shooting investigation.
