Indiana County’s longtime Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts has announced his retirement.
Randy Degenkolb has served in that office since January of 2010. He said in a letter sent Wednesday Afternoon that he has seen many changes over his years in office, including the installation of new case management software in 2013 for the civil division of the office and the digitization of the first 100 years of court records. His office has overseen the digitization of over 90% of Indiana County’s earliest court cases.
On top of the 28 years of employment with the county, 16 and a half years were with the Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts office. He has also served as a county auditor for two years, eight years as a county commissioner and one and a half years as the financial manager of the county.
He is looking forward to spending more time with his wife Cathy and his family in his retirement.
Amanda Vatter, his first deputy, will be sworn in on Friday, July 31st, to finish Degenkolb’s term of office, which will end in December of 2027.
Randy will join Josh Widdowson to talk about his retirement Thursday morning on Indiana in the Morning on WCCS.
